Defending and Being DefendedKinetic Installation / 2025

SynopsisThis is about turmoil, swaying, and performativity. A clutch-type reel automatically opens and closes a black umbrella. The resulting reaction force induces an unpredictable, self-perpetuating cycle of swaying. The work is composed of an umbrella, a clutch reel, and 3D-printed components.


这件作品探讨的是动荡、摇摆和表演性。一个离合器式卷轴自动打开和关闭一把黑色雨伞。由此产生的反作用力引发了一​​种不可预测的、自我延续的摇摆循环。作品由一把雨伞、一个离合器式卷轴、直流电机和3D打印部件组成。

The core component of the drive system is a detachable winch, powered by a DC motor and controlled by a servo motor. When the clutch is engaged, it pulls the PE cable to drive the umbrella; when disengaged, the umbrella springs open. Hidden photoelectric sensors detect the umbrella's status and position, and a microcontroller controls the aforementioned electronic components. Hidden at the bottom are a counterweight, a 12V lithium battery, and a microcontroller module.

驱动的核心部件是一个可分离式绞盘，由直流电机提供动力、伺服舵机控制离合，离合结合时拉动PE线驱动雨伞，分离时雨伞弹开，隐藏的光电传感器负责检测雨伞状态及位置，通过单片机控制上述电子元器件。隐藏在底部的分别是配重块、12v锂电池和微控制模块。
