Transparent Noise 無形之音
Experimental Short Film / 2024

Synopsis"Transparent Sound" explores the complex relationships between individuals and the collective within modern society's physical, psychological, and digital spaces. Whether consciously aware or not, individuals are being drawn by an invisible force of thought, gradually becoming caught in the dynamic vortex between self and group. 

Through the visual interplay of various forms of water flow and strange combinations with the unique entity of "I," the film examines the blurred boundaries between the self and society, expressing the value of seeking individuality in a world tending toward homogenization. 


《無形之音》探討了現代社會物理、心理與數位空間中,個人與集體之間複雜的連結。無論是否自覺,個體正被一種無形的思想力量所吸引,逐漸陷入自我與群體間的動態漩渦。

透過各種形態的水流視覺交錯,以及與獨特個體 「我」 的奇異組合,影片檢視了自我與社會之間模糊的邊界,傳達出在趨於同質化的世界中尋求個性的價值。


Artist Statement
Transparent Noise focuses on the visual expression of the tension and interaction between individuals and the collective in modern society. By exploring the blurred boundaries of identity in a world tending toward homogenization, I aim to evoke introspection and emotional resonance in the audience. 

In this film, water serves as a central metaphor, symbolizing fluidity, change, and the invisible forces that shape our inner and outer worlds, interwoven across three distinct scenes. The juxtaposition of abrupt objects and light with everyday settings disrupts familiar contexts, inviting viewers to reflect on the blurred boundaries between the self and society. 

Visually, the film employs experimental cinematography, tranquil compositions, and rhythmically varied editing to create a sense of visual flow that echoes the movement of water. The interplay of light and sound intensifies the tension between noise and silence, symbolizing the internal struggles individuals face in their pursuit of uniqueness. By immersing the audience in a world of flowing visuals and dissonant juxtapositions, I hope to provoke a visceral reaction, encouraging them to question their boundaries and the societal forces that shape their identities.


《無形之音》聚焦於現代社會中個人與集體之間緊張關係與互動的視覺表達。透過探索趨於同質化世界中身份邊界的模糊性,我旨在喚起觀眾的內省與情感共鳴。 

在本片中,「水」作為核心隱喻,象徵著流動、變化以及塑造我們內外世界的無形力量,並交織貫穿於三個截然不同的場景之中。突兀物件、光影與日常環境的並置,打破了熟悉的語境,邀請觀察者反思自我與社會之間模糊的界限。 

在視覺表現上,本片採用實驗性的攝影手法、寧靜的構圖以及節奏多變的剪輯,創造出一種與水流運動相呼應的視覺流動感。光影與聲音的交織加劇了噪音與靜謐之間的張力,象徵著個體在追求獨特性過程中所面臨的內在掙扎。透過讓觀眾沉浸在流動影像與不協調並置的世界中,我希望能激發一種直觀的反應,鼓勵他們重新審視自身的邊界以及塑造其身份的社會力量。 




Character
"Mo," a young woman with long hair, appears idle and aimless. In this fictional world, she is constantly disturbed by external forces, leaving her helpless and frustrated. From initially wanting to break free from this situation to ultimately being unable to escape, she ends up trapped in an endless vortex. As the sole character, she experiences life in this strange world.


「莫」 ,一名留著長髮的年輕女性,顯得無所事事且漫無目的。在這個虛構的世界裡,她不斷受到外力的干擾,感到無助與沮喪。從最初渴望擺脫現狀,到最終無法逃脫,她最終受困於無止盡的漩渦之中。作為片中唯一的角色,她獨自體驗著這個奇異世界的生存狀態。
