SynopsisA labyrinth of cables, cigarette butts lodged in concrete platform cracks, steel tracks superimposing the city's temporal strata.

Inspired by Chris Marker's fragmentary montage in La Jetée (1962), this work employs nonlinear editing methodology to reconstruct Hong Kong's tram culture as a contested vessel of identity. The tactile memory of industrialization emerges through textural layers: concrete's abrasiveness, sharpness of steel, accumulated paint strata and the vintage typography on trams while a sonic montage of track friction, cantonese announcements and street clamor creates temporal dislocation. These operations mirror the city's palimpsestic urban fabric, interrogating the 'ding-ding' tram's dual existence as both nostalgic relic and bleeding-edge signifier within neoliberal spatial politics.
